What this month is about

The trees are letting go. Are we?

We're talking stress, self-regulation, and all the different ways we can get out of balance without necessarily realizing it.

Kate Schneider will explore the nervous system in plain English: what happens in the body when we're stressed or constantly "on," how those patterns can show up physically, and practical somatic tools you can actually try.

Michele Keehn will bring in nature, seasons, relationships, horses and Medicine Wheel teachings, exploring balance, presence and the parts of ourselves that all deserve a seat at the table.

  • Maybe you're exhausted because you never stop.
  • Maybe you don't feel particularly stressed, but you can't sleep.
  • Maybe you're great at taking care of everyone else and have no idea what you need.
  • Maybe you keep trying to control things that aren't yours to control.
  • Or maybe you look like you've got it all together while your body is quietly telling a very different story.
Who is speaking

Two people we know and trust.

Two different perspectives on the same bigger conversation: how we experience stress, how we regulate ourselves, and what happens when we stop paying attention to parts of ourselves.

Founding & Main Sponsor

Foundations first. Brand, website, and the systems behind the night.

More about POM AIShow less

POM AI builds foundations. Most startups and small businesses get pushed straight into social media and paid ads before anything underneath is ready, so the traffic arrives and has nowhere to go. POM AI works the other way round: the brand, the website, the systems and the funnel first, so that when the marketing does start, everything it brings in gets caught and guided instead of leaking away.

The website is complimentary, a $20,000 build, and it is theirs whether they go on to work with POM AI or not. Every one of them ships with the backend system and an SEO growth suite wired through the whole site, because a beautiful site nobody can find is not a foundation. What people actually pay for is the AI systems: set up, managed and tracked, growing the business organically rather than renting attention. On the Growth and Scale plans that includes agents handling lead generation, lead qualification and pulling more of the right traffic in.

The thing owners notice first is the time coming back. Hours a week that used to go on follow-ups, chasing and re-entering the same information into five different tools, handed back to the person who should be running the business instead of operating it by hand.

They built the Unfiltered AF brand and this website. The planned next phase covers ticketing, intake for makers, charities and speakers, and event communication so three people can run a monthly night without doing every task by hand.

The reason they back this room is simpler than the work. They came to a night as guests. The energy was high, it was genuinely funny, and it was moving in a way that caught people off guard. You could see what it was doing for the people in it. One night was enough to know it was worth backing properly, so they did, and they intend to keep backing it as it grows.

Who they build for

Startups and small businesses across Canada, and into the United States when the fit is right. Based in the Edmonton area, with most of the client base Canadian. Owners wearing every hat at once, often already burned by an agency that promised results and delivered an invoice. The ones who know they need a foundation and have never been shown how to build one.

What to expect

The shape of the evening.

Nothing here is a surprise on the night. No part of it puts you on the spot.

  1. 6:00 PM

    Doors and mingling

Local makers and this month's charity have tables in the room. Get a coffee, wander, talk to whoever you like. Standing quietly and looking at things is a completely normal way to start.

  2. 6:40 PM

Kelly, Krista and Deena open the night

Brief and warm. They tell you what is coming and introduce the speakers. The room usually settles right about here.

  3. 7:00 PM

    The speakers

The topic changes every month. Some nights are practical, some are reflective, and most have a bit of both. You will probably laugh at some point and the room will probably go quiet at another.

  4. After

    Something together

The whole room takes part in an activity. Sometimes playful, sometimes steadying, always tied to connection, growth or change. You join in at whatever level feels right.

  5. Then

Stay as long as you want

People hang around and keep talking. Some head off straight away. Both are fine and nobody is counting.

Every night

Who else is in the room.

Three things happen at every night, and two of the three cost the people involved nothing.

Local makers

Tables in the room during the first forty minutes so you meet the person, not the storefront. Free for them to be there.

A charity we back

One local charity each month gets a table to tell the room what they do, plus a share of that night's ticket sales. Also free for them.

Door prizes from here

Sourced from local businesses around Stony Plain and the surrounding area, big and small.

The practical bits

Everything else you might be wondering.

What does a ticket cost?
The current Eventbrite price is $27.96 CAD. A portion of every ticket goes to Our Community Pantry, the local charity featured this month.
Where is it?
In the main ballroom at Best Western Sunrise Inn & Suites, 3101 43 Avenue in Stony Plain.
Can I come on my own?
Plenty of people do, every single month. Tell us at the door and we will introduce you to someone.
Is there food or drink?
The INN Lounge is open from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a full menu. Food and drinks can be brought into the ballroom.
What if I have to leave early?
Then leave early. Slip out whenever you need to and nobody will make anything of it.
Can I bring someone?
Yes, and people often do. Bringing a friend the first time is a good way in if walking into a room alone is not your thing.

Still deciding?

That is normal, and it is usually the last thing standing between someone and a good night. The door is easier than it looks from here.
